Positive Attitude Tips

You can transform your life with a positive attitude.

Using A Victory Journal To Develop A Positive Attitude

A victory journal can be a powerful tool to help you develop self esteem, self confidence, and a positive attitude.

What Is A Victory Journal?

Basically, it is your own written record of things that you have done well. Many people write in their journals on a daily basis.

What Can It Do For You?

It can be a great tool to help overcome poor self esteem and a lack of self confidence. If you are struggling with these types of problems, there is a good chance that you have a subconscious habit of focusing on the failures and difficulties in your life.

Everybody has failures and difficulties, but when you focus on them, it can drain your energy, eat up your self esteem and self confidence, and erode your motivation to take action to get what you want in life.

Keeping a journal of your daily successes can help change that subconscious programming. It works a lot like affirmations. As you continually remind yourself of your achievements, your subconscious brain will develop the habit of looking for and making you aware of your achievements as you go through your day.

As this new subconscious habit develops, your entire focus will start to shift from seeing failures in your life to seeing yourself as a successful person. If you keep this habit up for long enough, you will begin to develop self confidence, self esteem, and a positive attitude about yourself and your abilities.

How To Use A Victory Journal

3 easy steps:

Get Started – get yourself a notebook, or start an electronic journal on your computer using a word processor like Microsoft Word or OpenOffice writer (OpenOffice is free).

Write Out Your Daily Successes – every day spend a few minutes writing down as many things as you can think of that you did well. Include anything you think of, even if you think it was small. Things like having a great meeting with so and so, or making a great tasting dinner, or getting the kids off to school on time. Even the small successes will start building up your confidence and self esteem.

Refer To Your Journal When Needed – if a failure is getting you down, or if someone tells you that you did a bad job on something, refer to your victory journal. Spend some time reading through it to remind yourself that you are an achiever.

Commit to this process for at least thirty days if you can. A lot of research has indicated that it takes at least thirty days to create a new habit in your life. By committing to writing in your journal for at least the next thirty days, you will be well on your way to overcoming low self esteem and low self confidence. A positive attitude about yourself and your abilities is just around the corner.
