The Subconscious Brain - The Secret to a Positive Attitude and Success
The subconscious brain is your key to eliminating the massive effort it otherwise takes to maintain a positive attitude and achieve success in any area of your life. What you want is to make these things automatic.
If you think of your brain as a car and driver, your conscious brain is the driver and the subconscious brain is the car itself. The conscious brain, the driver, decides where to take the car. But it is ultimately the car itself, the subconscious mind, that will get you where you want to go.
Your brain is an amazing organ. It contains about a hundred thousand miles of blood vessels (160,000 kilometers) and about 100 billion neurons. These neurons are able to perform about 10 quadrillion operations per second. The capacity of your brain is virtually unlimited.
Consider for a minute what’s happening while you’re reading this page. Your conscious mind is focused on reading this text and processing the information. At the same time, your subconscious brain is busy replacing one hundred million cells every second. It’s also monitoring and controlling your heartbeat, digesting any food you’ve eaten in the last 24 hours, detoxifying any foreign chemicals out of your system, controlling your breathing, delivering nutrients and oxygen all around your body, and many, many other functions all at the same time.
The brain controls every aspect of your life. You make decisions, take actions, hold onto beliefs and habits, and maintain your bodily functions all in your brain. This is why it’s important that you learn to harness the power of your mind and develop a positive attitude and positive habits and beliefs.
In order to harness the power of your brain, you need to understand the basics of how it works. It can basically be divided into two areas, the conscious brain and the subconscious brain.
The Conscious Brain
The conscious brain is where you make decisions. This is a big part of what makes you human. You have the conscious ability to make complex decisions. Most animals do not. When you make decisions, you’re determining where you want to go, what you want to achieve, and whether or not your attitude is going to be a positive or negative one. While the ability to choose is truly amazing and wonderful, it doesn’t mean that you’ll follow through on those decisions. How many people do you know who have decided they want to lose weight, quit smoking, get in shape, or think with a positive attitude? How many actually followed through on their decisions and achieved their goals? Maybe this has happened to you? Don’t worry if it has, you’re not alone. Usually only about 5% of people manage to follow through on their decisions and achieve their goals.
Why is it that most decisions don’t lead to success?/p>
Simply put, it’s because a decision is made with the conscious mind, which only exerts about 2–4% influence over your results. The reason for this is that when you consciously choose to pursue a goal, you are usually tying to achieve it with willpower alone. Over 90% of the time, your old habits and beliefs will overpower your will in a very short period of time. Your conscious willpower just doesn’t have the strength to overcome your old habits and beliefs which are held in your subconscious brain.
The Way To Achieve Your Goals Is To Enlist Your Subconscious Brain
Your subconscious brain is where you hold your beliefs, attitude, habits, and perceptions. Existing beliefs and habits will overtake your conscious willpower almost every time. If you understand how the subconscious mind works, you can then also understand how to start a subconscious mind reprogramming regimen. You can change your habits and beliefs and get them working for you instead of against you. You can develop a habit of having a positive attitude, a habit of exercising and eating healthy, or a habit of earning more and more money. Any success habit you want can be developed, and once it’s properly in place, your success is virtually guaranteed.
This reprogramming process involves two basic steps.
- Use
your conscious mind to choose your goals. What do you want to achieve?
What beliefs do you want to have? What do you want to have a positive
attitude about? What habits do you want to install?
- Repeatedly impress these goals onto your subconscious mind using affirmations, meditation, visualization, and hypnosis.
This repetition must be done daily for at least 30 days. Research has repeatedly confirmed that it takes about 30 days to install a new belief or habit. If you miss a day, you must start your count over at day 1. Consistency is one of the key factors in your subconscious mind reprogramming success.
Stop trying to exert your willpower over your subconscious brain. Instead, work with your subconscious to affect change. Install new beliefs and habits and put your positive attitude and success on autopilot. Hard effort now means no effort later!
