Have you been doing your positive affirmations diligantly with little or no results? Perhaps your missing a critical ingredient needed to make them work.
Before we delve into this critical ingredient. You need to make sure the mechanics of your affirmations are correct.
This article on how to write an effective affirmation gets into the nitty gritty of writing and using positive affirmations effectively, but for here's a really quick refresher before we move on...
You want your affirmations:
- To start with the words "I am"
- To be written in the present tense
- To be short
- To be specific
- To have an emotional element to them
It's the last item on that list that offers us a clue on how to make your affirmations more effective.
The Missing Ingredient To Effective Affirmations
It's one thing to write some emotion into your affirmations, but if you really want to ramp up their effectiveness, you need to feel what it would be like if your affirmation were true.
You see, both the subconscious brain and the law of attraction respond rapidly to emotions. Simple words do have some effect, but it's minimal compared to the impact a strongly felt emotion can have.
Think back on your life. I would be willing to be that the events in your life that your remember the best are the ones that have a strong emotional element to them. You remember these events well because your subconscious brain registers things that have a strong emotional aspect as being very important.
You can use this to your advantage when you repeat your positive affirmations.
How To Implement It
It's easy to add some emotion to your affirmations. To do it, after you have repeated the affirmation to yourself, take a minute and more and visualize. Get your imagination ramped up and imagine in detail what it would be like if the affirmation you just repeated where true, right here, right now.
Feel as strongly as you can, how you would feel if it were true. Feel the gratitude of having your desire. Feel the joy as you experience your desire having become a reality. Enjoy the praise and congratulations of family and friends.
By getting emotional about your positive affirmations, you're telling your subconscious brain that this is important to you. When the subconscious registers that something is important to you, it will start working on ways to make it happen for you.
Eventually, as you keep repeating the affirmation and the corresponding emotions, your habits and your reality will start changing as well. What you've seen and felt in your mind, will start become real around you.
